hmmm ...Buddhism

Posted by beastkid7 - July 25th, 2010

I think that Buddha. Or the whole concept of Buddhism is Amazing. He quite literally ...tells it ...like it ...is. Understanding ones self, understanding how society works ... understanding the mind ...why we do things ...it does bring a certain peace. A Balancing of our desires and needs it does bring you into contentment. Happiness comes from doing what's right, generosity brings happiness not greed ...not money.

Buddha came up with this theory because he wanted to know why death? Why Suffering? "We are all burning, every thing about us is out of control." Buddha said we are burning to describe the human condition. We are born with the desire in are hearts to do wrong. Why are we like this? Because ...we just are. If that were the answer than yes, I can totally see Buddhism being practical ...in the way that we just need to be the best person we can by achieving the opposite of ignorance and understanding how to deal with everything in the right way.

Buddhism gives fantastic advice but not a fantastic solution. The way we got this way. Life, death, suffering, sorrow, violence, is all classified as unknown or even irrelevant. It is missing human purpose. The end and beginning is relevant. It wouldn't be if all were content with dyeing. But if you truly attain happiness, this blissful state of complete peace ...you would not want it to end. And for good reason what cruelty is giving someone the most amazing experience, fulfillment, joy, true happiness. For a time that is relatively momentary.

For a practice about understanding and knowing ...the unknown is a very big part of it. When in fact the unknown can be known if you look toward the solution. Yes I am a Christian but I do not believe the solution is heaven. No who even came up with that idea? We were created to live on this beautiful earth to no end as Adam and eve were. God wouldn't completely change his purpose for us. To live forever on a paradise earth ...the revelation says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away"

I guess I felt Buddhism was so great and interesting because it is very similar to what the bible says to do. lol. What I try to do. We are to follow Jesus, Gods son, his teachings ...but most of all his example. He is quite literally the perfect example! And in doing so we cultivate these qualities such as humility, mildness, wisdom, and even inner peace. And so in that way we can find peace in this world filled with suffering and endure it by look toward a solution.

Why do they always deppict him as fat? Was he fat? If so I'm guessing it was because he was offered ALOT of food.

Comments

If memory serves me correct, there were multiple Buddhas. Either that or people believed girth equaled knowledge.

huh. interesting ...yeah I think all Buddhist are Buddhas per say.

Buddhism is good.

Before Jesus Christ, Asia was in termoil...

This Prince....symbolically....rejected the pleasures of his kin, to reach out to the people....

And remember the concept....a single flame can light a hundred candles.

Many Christians use Buddhist methods of self control to become better Christians.

To think of Buddhism as another religion of rejection because of the miss-conception of it's origins...

Is a faulty way to view a way of thinking and is prejudice.

For example...you DO know that Muslim, Jewish, and Christians ARE PRACTICALLY THE SAME!!!

I believe Buddhism is good yes. But at the same time(In my view) I think it is misleading of what people should be seeking. Maybe not the ultimate enlightenment of ones self ...but the ultimate enlightenment in truth ...of what the world is.

But yes I will probably use the principles from what I know about Buddhism.

Yes I did. They come from the same roots. . .they have a lot of scriptures in common. I actually remember talking to this jewish kid who sat next to me on the bus. And are beleifs were very similar. But had some major differences.

PS - know one knows for certain what the original Sadarta looked like.

But more than likely his Indian statue was more realistic.

This statue is of the Buddah of China and Japan.

Remember...Buddahism is Indian.

Remember that "Journey to the West Story" that inspired Dragon Ball.

The Monkey King brought the Sacred Scrolls from India to China.

Those sacred scrolls were the teachings of Buddah.

===

In my perspective...

Jesus' Teachings, Buddah's Teachings, and Zen Meditation is Good.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the Indian one is right.

Very curious Jak what do you believe about life, death, suffering, the world. Why do YOU think were here? When is the suffering gonna stop? Just from ...what you think Baron ...what do you think?

What really touched me about Sadarta (if you recall from the film) was his understanding of death, sickenss, and sadness.

Being a prince, he didn't know ANY of these things....

A man as great as he was....sacraficed EVERYTHING so that he may understand the light of happiness.

He must a had some kinda passion that man. He truly wanted to understand.

Remember...Historically accurate....

Buddah came before Jesus in birth and teaching.

But Buddah was in Asia....there was no messiaha in the Middle East just yet.

And as Buddah traveled from India to the rest of Asia, the perspective changed of his appearance.

The FAT Buddah is the concept of happiness and fullness.

He could care less about his appearance and is happy with his flaws.

"If you were alone on a deserted island, you would have to get used to yourself, warts and all. There fore, an acceptance of yourself for your flaws and beauty is curcial to being happy with yourself and without the satification of knowing what others think of you."

aaah I see. I have to say I didn't know Buddah came before Jesus.

you really had to tell me all that?

You read it.

heh. You read it? Well thank you for readin. :D

yeah i did

kool beans!

It does seem threatening that some other major religion offers valid viewpoints than the one your brought up with.

Especially when that religion says to reject others.

But recall that things shouldn't be taken so "litterally".

Remember....about HALF of the bible before the teachings of Jesus was a history book. A chronicle of events and a teaching of rules "fit for that time period".

When the middle east was developing, people LITERALLY decided to worship their own gods for a sense of power and importance. Not for the value of it's beliefs. But for other viceful reasons.

There was MASSIVE culture clash within the culture of Muslims, Jewish, and others that existed at the time.

You got to understand that even though the Good Book is good...it isn't the only "good book."

If you take the time to analyze....to observe the teachings as to why certain cultures choose their way of life....

You'll see that "who or what" God you believe in...is IRRELEVANT to the lifestyle that certain people choose to follow.

And in answer to your question...

I shall send you a PM.

Unless of course you have come to find there is only one God. I pray and he answers ...there is only one God.

And I shall read with with exquisite delight and an Open mind.

they are truly a peaceful religion.

Oh yes! That they are.

You have probably already read about it, but if not, I think you would find the concepts within Gnostiscism... interesting.

Wow no I havn't. I'll check it out!

What "defines" a "singular God" doesn't necessarily mean a single being.

But a single being who reaches out to other's and adapts to their own mentality and perspective on things.

The possibilities are endless and I feel it is more important to look at things for what they are vs where they come from.

Buddhism may not be Christianity but it hold many valid points that have brought peace to Asia.

We can learn from the Native Americans and Hawaiians about respect for the land. Their polytheistic culture has created that mentality.

See my point? Know who God is, is not as important as to what God can teach us. And he does work in mysterious ways.

Respectfully, I will not disdain ANY religion nor belief as long as the quality of their teachings exhibits a humanitarian, intelligent, peaceful, justifiable, and compassionate perspective.

For example...Indians believe that a single GREAT BEING split himself apart to become the thousands of gods and goddesses they individually worship.

By whatever means God may have tried to reach his children...it is important to analyze for what each religion is and to apply the teachings to yourself if you see fit.

And WHATEVER happened in the past in any culture, religion, or society....

Is all under the bridge now.

Because it's more important to collect the knowledge of the past and see how it can be applied to our own future.
