Movies I watched. ..Dramedyz?!

Posted by beastkid7 - July 12th, 2012

Not that I was bored, but I had downloaded "It's kind of a funny story". A movie I had never got to watch, but had wanted to see, and I figured ...hey why not download those movies in the back of my mind that I never watched before. I would like to give short reviews of the movies in order of my personal favorites. Least to greatest.

5) It's Kind of a funny story

This was kind of a funny story, and that's why I liked it. I like depressing stuff too, and it took place in a mental house ..but it wasn't depressing. It was actually quite funny with Zach Galifianakis as his dry humored eccentric wingman. He learnes, as one does by living in a mental house for a week, that his situation isn't as bad as he thought it was. Has some fun moments, and the fact that the love interest is played by the cute Emma Roberts who has recently been playing in more adult films.

4)Garden State

It's a movie about the young and lost. Written and directed by Zack Braff, the one playing the main role. Numbed by life and medication, he's just recently returned to his home town for his mothers funeral. There he meets some old friends also lost in there own ways, as well as Sam, an out going, super quirky, sweet hearted Pathological liar played by Natalie Portman. It's just a nice combination, to see her peel him open.

From here on out the orders are just personal preference, these are the greatest movies I've ever seen.

3)Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

This is the romantic version of inception. It's such a cerebral movie, yet arguably has more heart than brains. Joel Barish, played by Jim Carrey has recently agreed to erase his lover from his mind.. I think thats all I can say with out giving too much away. But let me just say, that this movie is just Brilliant, it demands to be watched many times, and has such a real and deep message to it.

2)Little miss sunshine

This is a story that tells a lot about life, in such a funny and memorable package. The very embodiment of a movie with heart. I think the equation of this story is that, such a dramatically messed up family would tolerate each other and be held together because of one innocent spunky little girl, who has a dream to win the little miss sunshine pageant. Don't worry, this movie isn't about the pageant.

1)Lost in translation

Perhaps one of my favorite movies ever! ...yeah, if not my favorite. (I'm very indecisive) A movie about lost souls in a stand still life. Taking place in the foreign world of Tokyo. A movie star/husband (Bill Murray) and a young wife (Scarlett Johansson) do something that resembles falling in love. There's something about Bill Murrays smart remarks and Scarlett's warm receptive smiles. Bob Harris's blunt wisdom and Scarlett Johansson's intimate and quite observation of the tokyo city. I think I love this movie so much because I fell in love with Scarlett and was overly charmed by Bob Harris.

I thought it was funny that all these movies on my waiting list were Dramedies and generally about finding your self.
