FREAKS AND GEEKS

Posted by beastkid7 - October 22nd, 2012

Similar to my encounter with the Firefly series I was drawn to Freaks and Geeks by its hype. It's tragic really. But at least the episodes are really long. This show is like a nostalgia combo because it was made in the 90's but its set in the 80's. It also has a very subtle and more realistic approach to high school years and was really funny at times. It was ahead of its time with its understated nature and I believe thats what got it canceled.

The reason I fell in love with this show though. Is its characters, the way the characters evolve and learn threw out that one season was ...well it pulled my heart strings people.

Go watch it on netflix, I bet you'll be sad when its over :P

Since I had my heart strings pulled in the late 80's, I think for personal reasons I'll pass.
Firefly was a great series... but, yeah, the time period of Freaks and Geeks.. I just turned 40 - that should help clear things up :)

Then this show is perfect for you, no? It'll bring up bad memories?

I kinda had a similar apprehension when going to watch it. I just usually don't like to watch things about crazy experiences kids had in highschool. Simply because I feel like I missed out. I didn't do anything in highschool. ..its a stupid kinda regret I suppose. If I did it again I wouldn't have done it any differently.

You should watch it. You'd probly relate to the characters far more than I did.

I'll have to watch this someday. I do like your taste in entertainment.

They won't renew Good Vibes, because even though it was on MTV, the show notoriously made fun of MTV's reality shows.

BALLS! - you'll get the joke.

Give Transformers Prime a chance too. It get's REALLY exciting to watch. Hasbro knows how to hire good writers these days. Love their cartoons now.

Thanks Jak!

Oh I did! I think I watched like 4 or 5 episodes of prime. When they killed off the first autobot with the horns. I was like o_o they ain't playin in this show. Right off the bat they take away the inhuman element of a giant metallic robot by bringing in the prospect of mortality. The only thing I don't like is that loud little girl :P its a good show though. I need to finish it.
